Tools of the Trade pt. I

October 13, 2009

Thieves and Criminals take pride in what they do, and like many artists they use the best tools they can find. This series shines light on such tools.

The Sawed- Off Shotgun is a very versatile weapon, it is very compact and very intimidating. Photo by Andy Warhol

A “Back-to-the-Land” approach. The Axe is great for breaking down doors, windows, or people and other things that get in the way.

Another handheld favorite, the machete has been a favorite of farmers, adventurers, murderers and criminals around the globe. This particular collection of machetes is from Rwanda.

Pistolet Pulemjot Shpagina or The PPSh-41 was  used by the Russians in WWII. A subautomatic machine gun that fired 900 rounds per minute. A favorite among looters of  Berlin after the Russians captured the Reichstag.

Swords of the Middle East, a favorite among thieves at markets, and Pirates of the Caspian Sea.

Knives need no introduction in the history of crime. Small or big, sharp, deadly. Period.
